UDGC 3D Printed Trophy

UDGC 3D Printed Trophy

UDGC 3D Printed Trophy As part  of our work for the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) we were commissioned to design and produce a 3D printed trophy for the Grand Challenge Student Awards. We had already designed a brand identity for the event and promotional literature. For the design solution we looked at how we could combine the CEUD logo marque and the new look and feel for the awards. There are not many 3D printers that can print in full colour at this point so it was an opportunity to flex the technology’s capacity! Although colour matching could not be guaranteed we found that the CMYK print was a reasonable match for the brand identity colours so we could keep the brand managers happy. The trophy was printed in two sections and optimises the physical size within an agreed budget. The trophy itself was printed so that the direction of the material would maximise on the strength of the trophy, particularly with the tall columns that are part of the design. The final trophy was well received and congratulations to Christopher Wallace who scooped both...
Future Makers

Future Makers

Future Makers Recently in 2014 working in close partnership with Muireann Charleton, Education & Innovation Manager, of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI), we have re-designed the visual brand identity for the Future Makers project (original work in liaison with Louise Allen, Head of Innovation, DCCoI). This was an exciting project and as the target audience was students the door was open to a unique approach. From the beginning we wanted to create a very strong identity with a gutsy approach to typography. We looked at a range of design approaches and decided that the use of an ultra bold typeface style would allow us to use the letters as visual picture frames or windows, to the fantastic craft work being created by students. Since then we have updated the identity each year taking it a new and fresh direction. From the outset we were keen that the communication channels to be employed were those that the students use. To that end social media was going to play a critical role. The website was created to facilitate easy communication of news and support to the students presenting video, case studies and examples of winners projects and more. Defence Forces

Defence Forces

Defence Forces Brand Identity We worked with the Defence Forces to develop their logo design and created a new brand identity. This included a new web presence, app, templates for stationery, reports and posters. The traditional Defence Forces badge design has a number of subtle updates which make it more robust when reproduced at small sizes. We have continued to work with the Defence Forces on annual updates to their website and content and also developed the website for the Military Archives and development solutions for several collections. Universal Design Grand Challenge

Universal Design Grand Challenge

Universal Design Grand Challenge The Grand Challenge is a design competition that invites final-year and post-grad students from colleges in Ireland to enter their student projects to win national Universal Design awards. The selection procedure will involve an International Panel of Judges examining the work and creating a shortlist of projects. The students will then be invited to do a short presentation at the awards held in May where the overall winners will be decided on the night. The design for this project adheres to rigorous rules in relation to accessibility. Yo-Yos Website

Yo-Yos Website

Yo-Yos Website Over the last 5 years we have worked closely with MABs, the Money Advice and Budgeting Service. Their agenda is to promote better financial skills to an audience who are either struggling under financial pressure or have difficulty managing their finances due to low levels of ability in this area. Recently we worked with MABs to develop “YoYos learn how to manage your money”. This project’s target audience are early school leavers with poor financial skills. “Roomthree’s proactive input was invaluable and their expertise in delivering content online ensured that this website has exceeded our expectations.” – Carol Dunne, Business Manager, YoYos Project, MABs.
